Mac Book

Hey guys was just looking into getting a apple mac book and stumbled across there referbished machines.. One quick and easy question can you get student discount on referbed machines?

And (Sorry i know i said one quick question but i lie) Have you had any experiance with referbed machines. (Is it better to call them or to go into store) im after something portable but fast enough to run basic..ish video editing (will be doing event DVDS as a freelance editer as well as ediing ready shot footage)

Was thinking i could try to shake some software or a ipod out of them espicially if im spending £1000+

Cheers for any replys!

To be honest, i wouldn't recommend going used or refurbished with anything related to computers.

I bought a refurbished iPod and it was broken within weeks. Used stuff, you just don't know where it's been, how hard it was used, how many drinks were spilled on it, how many cats lived around it, etc.

Student discounts, the only way you could get that is if the store you bought it from is somehow related to your campus. Otherwise, Apple won't be honoring that. They had some sort of program for students, i thought?

Yeah all you need is a student ID number to get Uni discounts... the girlfriend got a imac a year or two ago! think i will just give the sister the money and get her to order it! ... still might be worth trying to worm some extras out of them!

Go new and never refurbished on computer products. Like Ralph said, you never know what goes on with something before it's sold to you. I have abused the living heck out of my Macbook, and I don't know how thorough the Apple refurbish team. They could just turn it on, make sure it works, and maybe take out some dents on the body...then slap a warranty onto it.

Not saying they do, but why take the chance?
