Got a friend who's friend is selling a White 2007 MacBook 13.3" model A1181
Specs: ------------------------ mac osx 10.6 snow leopard ilife '09 2ghz intel core 2 2gb ddr2 sdram 80gb hard drive built in mic and camera bluetooth airport (wi-fi) only bad thing is that it has no wall charger! I would like to know What is a reasonable price, whats a good deal price and what is it really worth? He told me he is thinking around 600 and idk if that's a steal What are some common problems with it that I should see before buying it? Thanks guys |

What would you plan on using it for? If you just wanted a simple email and surfing machine, a netbook would probably be a better value.
Current macbooks: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...-MACBOOK-INDEX Charger: http://store.apple.com/us/search?find=macbook%20charger I'd be wary for a few reasons: 1) It's not new anymore 2) Is it under warranty (I doubt it, unless your friend bought an extended protection plan. Even then, apple *might* not honor it since the mac changed hands) 3) The charger is another $80. 4) Does it come with all the discs? I might consider $350 as-is...so long as it's in good, running condition with no serious cosmetic damage.

Yea those specs don't seem too impressive for running Snow Leopard, this computer was built for Tiger, which was 2 operating systems behind SL. The $600 he quoted is definitely not worth it, especially if it doesn't come with a wall charger, which are expensive like Force Flow shows. I personally would run a benchmark on the system from Geekbench (they have a free trial) and compare it with other #s on their website for like models. Also look at the condition of the computer, make sure it comes with discs, the Apple remote, but I doubt it has the warranty anymore, unless he bought applecare.

I wouldn't pay $600 for a Macbook that's 3 years old. I've found that usually the lifespan of laptops is about 3-5 years tops.

What would you recommend for a replacement home pc? My old pc has to go by by it is 8 years old and I need something new. Would a mac be reliable and easy to use?
