iOS4 - Opinions

Morning Chaps,

So the iOS4 is out for the 3G 3GS and iPhone (not 4G remember ) and obviously the iTouch models.

So have anyone experienced any problems with the update?

I have noticed on my 3G that the software is a little jittery - isn't as smooth as 3.1.3 and I'm quite annoyed with Apple to see that they have disabled the Home Screen Wallpaper Customisation for 3G users and enabled it for 3GS and 4 users.

I can understand limiting the use of Multitasking because the newer ones will be able to handle it, but come on a Wallpaper?

Anyway - mailboxes are nice, although annoying - I didn't mind switching between all my mail accounts, just something I'd have to get used to.

Apart from the above, I can't see massive differences between 3.1.3 and 4 :/

The wifi on my Touch has become much less reliable.
Its gone from basically rock solid, something I was very pleased about, to constantly wavering and prone to connection drops.
The only change was the upgrade to iOS4.

I like the folders, and multitasking - the big main for me is Pandora now runs in the background.

Haven't had any issues, battery life still sucks!
I have a 3GS btw.

iOS4, to me, doesn't seem like a HUGE improvement, even tho Apple claims that there are well over like 100 improvements or something (from what Jobs said in the keynote). Apple was kind of late to a lot of features like the multitasking and wallpapers. I'm beginning to wish I had an Android device now. I have a 3GS at the moment and overall, it's not bad. The new OS runs smoothly and such.

An email from Steve Jobs in response to this question, wrote: "The icon animation with backgrounds didn’t perform well enough." (http://gizmodo.com/5569276/why-iphon...nds-with-ios-4)

That just sounds like a joke to me.

I don't think I will even bother updating. I haven't had iTunes installed for as long as I can remember. Updating would require me to sync and lose everything on the iPod. It would not give me anything new.

I've moved onto my Evo anyway. +1 for Android.

My sister has an iPod touch 3G, and I have noticed that the startuop times are quite slow since the upgrade, but she doesn't mind. I'm waiting for the new one to come out in September, maybe they'll have it fixed by then

I've subsequently moved back to OS3 and much prefering it.

After everything that has come out regarding the new iPhone4 I really don't think I'll be getting it in my renewal in September.

Apple have failed big time, HTC andriod next me thinks

iOS4

Well I have to agree with several of you... not that impressed with the OS upgrade. I think Apple too is loosing it's edge.

I'm seriously looking at the Android phones. They have some cool stuff going on and don't seem to be as obnoxious to deal with as Apple can be.

One thing I don't like about the OS is that every time you opened the contacts it will ran the email app. and also even after you closed the email and Safari, they're running in the background.
