Ive used PC's for yrs and have accumulated several external HD (usb) and usb Zip drives . Now I also have a Mac book Pro running OS X , is there anyway to use my present HD's or do they all need unloaded and reformatted in OS X format ? TIA

If you want to use the drives with both a MAC and a Windows computer you're going to have to format the drives in FAT(MS-DOS).
If just with the MAC then you use the MAC extended Journaled. You find the MAC disk management in the utilities folder in Applications. Just a warning, if you have any usb Sandisk Cruizer drives the installed encrypting software doesn't play nice with MACs.
