Bootcamp Question:

Does installing windows on mac via bootcamp format the hard drive?

YEs and no. It creates a separate partition on your Intel Mac’s hard drive where you can then install a copy of Microsoft Windows. It will format the partition created.

I would recommend using Bootcamp to create partition since that seems to do better than other programs i have tried it with. Now if you want to shrink or increase the size of either your Mac or Windows partition, Bootcamp can't do that without destroying Windows altogether. I recommend looking at iPartition to do such, it doesn't destroy the partition, and does a pretty good job at it.
