ARGGGH! I've had it with huntbar and it's variants! I've followed every thread I've read, done everything I've read everywhere about this SOB. I can't get rid of the registry key 'BTIEIN'. It says I don't have permission to delete this key, even though I'm logged on as administrator. I've spent 6 hours on this stinkin parasite, only to have half a dozen popups show up in 20 minutes of boot.

I've bought Spyhunter, AdAware pro, and Pest Patrol. TThey all claim to be able to clean it. What a bunch of bunk! $120 later, and I'm still no better off than I was before. This parasite is killing my business, as I can't charge for what I can't fix. It's on EVERY computer that comes through my door. I'm at my wits end. Is there anyway to edit the registry of a slaved hard drive? There has to be an answer to this one, guys. Please help!

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that one too. I guess I'm looking at reformatting every computer that has this parasite on it. This should be illegal. I can't see how these guys are getting away with this.

Maybe it isn't considered a threat or illegal, So maybe that's why it's allowed by spy/ad ware software.

It is spyware, and vicious at that. They all detect it, just won't remove it.

In response to icallmedan, they surf the internet. This crap installs with no intervention from the user. That's why I think it should be illegal. There is NO way to uninstall it.

You know its not enough to be logged in as Administrator to remove a registry key. Sometimes it is possible that a key has its own set of permissions. Keys are like files in the NT registry, governed by their own security policies. You can check the permissions by openning regedit, then selecting the offending key. Now go to EDIT > PERMISSIONS to view the permissions. If you dont have the valid permissions, you can assume permissions by clicking on the Advanced button and taking ownership.
