Kerio behind Linksys Router?
I just got hooked up to Verizon DSL and installed a Linksys router to the DSL modem. I noticed that when I first had only the DSL modem hooked up, pages would come up at the expected speed...but when I connected the router, things slowed down and I couldn't access some pages anymore.
I believe this router has a built in firewall of some sort (NAT technology), but I also had Kerio running on the computer at the same time. Not knowing what the problem was, I removed the router and left Kerio running and my surfing speed returned to normal. But when I reconnected the router, things slowed down again. So, I disabled Kerio from starting up with Windows and now I'm surfing at expected speeds again while the router is connected. Do I have to make certain setup changes to Kerio to run with DSL and the router? Or do I just leave Kerio disabled and rely on the router for intrusion protection? Don't have much experience with this router stuff yet. This particular computer is running Win98SE (it's not the one in my signature). Thanks for any help or insight into this. Cricket

Personally, I don't run any firewall software, just the NAT provided by my router. One fairly harmless email borne virus in two years and that was my fault for not renewing AV software in timely fashion. I don't even enable XP firewall.
