reverse use of USB ethernet adapter
I have a D-Link DSB-650TX USB Fast Ethernet Adapter. It is made to plug into your computer via usb and your cable or DSL modem via an ethernet cable. However, I am wondering if I can use this with a USB only DSL modem in the reverse direction? ie Can I plug the USB into the modem and the ethernet into an ethernet card in my pc? Will the adapter work like this or not? The DSL modem does not have an ethernet jack, only a USB jack.

USB is a one way thing. Ethernet is a two-way thing. For USB to work, one side has to be in charge - that's the PC. What youre suggesting doesn't sound like it will work, sorry. Just plug the USB DSL modem into your computer. I'd expect it shows up to the computer as a network adapter of some sort.

USB is a serial port with two way communication, how do you see it as a one way thing. |

One of the sides has to be a host or something like that. The host initiates the connection. And most USB devices only have slave controllers, so they can't initiate a connection.
Or something like that, I'm not an expert

I can't just plug the DSL modem into the computer becuase we want to plug it into a hub in order to split the internet connection. But since the modem is USB only we need to use some sort of adapter to change it to Ethernet so that we can plug it into the hub.

I don't know of anything like what you want. But they have USB capable routers available in the UK. You might search and see if they are available in Canada. If so you could use a router as opposed to a hub.
