Shared Files over a Network-probs

SEE ATTACHED PICTURE

What I am trying to accomplish:
-Go to any computer, and see other computers shared folders, and get files from them WITH ANY CONNECTION...wireless or direct
-Add files to shared folders for others to DL
-Get Shared folders to work with The Win2K computer
-=All computers in this will use windows XP=-
ok...first things first.

Computer 1- This computer - directly connected
Computer 2- older Win 2k comp(DISREGARD THIS FOR THIS THREAD)
Computer 3- "My CIU(Central Interface Unit)" Receives connection via Dlink 802-B router, and USB adapter
Computer 4-Dell Inspiron 600M laptop - MiniPCI Wireless card built in

1- I took the laptop(Computer 4) with wireless connection, and look at My Network Places. I can see Computer 1's Shared folder, and at that time it is the only one with a shared folder. I then Proceeded To setup a shared folder for the laptop.
2- Came to computer 1, went to my network places, could only see Computer 1's Shared folder, could not see Computer 4's shared folder
3- Proceeded to take out the ethernet cable to computer to computer 2, and Input it into computer 4(the laptop). I disabled the wireless connection and enabled the Realtek Ethernet port controller.
4- Went to Computer 1, I could now see AND BROWSE Computer 4's(the laptop) shared folder. proceeded to take some files from its shared folder and burn them to CD.
5- Went to The laptop (computer 4) and could browse computer 1's shared folder as well as get files from it.
6-(Computer 1 and Computer 49[thelaptop] are still directly connected) Went to computer 3's and went to my network places, i could see files on both computers as well as browse them.
7- Tried settings up a Shared Folder for computer 3, it basically told me that i needed an ethernet cable.

Well we made it this far and here I am.

I will state again

What I am trying to accomplish:

-Add files to shared folders for others to DL
-Get Shared folders to work with The Win2K computer

Im takin a wild guess, that u gotta be directly connected for others to see your shared folder.

is it possible to get it to work with the directly connected Win2000 Pro Computer?

Thanks Guys.

Make sure NetBIOS is enabled over TCP/IP on all computers, and enable the Guest account on the Win2K box. Turn off the firewall on the XP boxes.

Start, network connections, right click on local area connection, properties, double click on TCP/IP, Advanced, WINS tab. Enable NetBIOS. Do this on all the boxes.

Right click on My Computer, Manage. Local Users and Groups, Users, Guest, double click, uncheck "disabled". Do this on the 2K box.

You have to create new shares on the 2K box, it doesn't use simple file sharing like XP, therefore it doesn't have any default shared folders. Right click on a folder, Sharing.
