Virus or Trojan HELP! Hijackthis log C:\WINDOWS\secure.html

I have a trojan or virus on my computer and kindly request your help.

I have run the following software to help with no luck: Norton Antivirus pro 2004, online virus scan, Tauscan trojan scan (in safe mode too), spybot search and destroy, registry mechanic, and others I cant remember.

Symptoms are as follows:

When opening IE, instead of my usual home page, this page appears --> "C:\WINDOWS\secure.html". The page is a warning page that list my system info and says that I'm at high risk and to follow a link to "http://www.smart-security.info/?affid=DNN-2" DONT GO THERE IT MAY SCREW YOUR COMP UP. Ads or porn sites appear if I close the "secure.html" page.

My desktop background has changed to a web site similar to above (http://www.smart-security.info/?affid=DNN-2).

My computer reported that my hard drive was at full capacity when ot was really only 1/4 full.

My outlook.pst file was deleted somehow. Either by the virus or myself. I may have deleted it using hijackthis..maybe.\

Sometimes when I manually type in an address in IE, it will refresh and add additional characters to the address I typed. For example, I type "http://www.yahoo.com", 10 - 20 seconds go by then it changes to "http:///&20h/www.yahoo.com".

Click here to down load CWShredder by Merijn Bellekom, the creator of Hijack This
If you have it already then make sure it is v1.59.0

Run it, press 'Fix', and allow it to fix all it finds.
And remember to click "Fix" (Not "Scan only")
Reboot

CWS installs via the byte verifier exploit in M$ JavaVM so just surfing a page with an infected applet can install it with no user participation. So once you’ve run the above, it is vital that you go here, click Scan for updates in the main frame, and download and install all CRITICAL updates recommended.

To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:

1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
6. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.
7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
8. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
9. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

as XP will not let you delete files less than 24 hours old as it thinks it might need them please also do this
while in the temp folder, select view and select details.
then right click a blank part and select arrange icons by, and select show in groups and modified, that will give a list of all files in date order with today at the top of the page.
select all the files/folders except the today ones and delete them all.

1) Open Control Panel
2) Click on Internet Options
3) On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete Files
4) You may also want to check the box "Delete all offline content"
5) Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes the temporary internet files
6) You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies that websites have placed on your hard drive

Run AdAware
Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file 01R323 20.06.2004 by clicking Check for updates now, and following the prompts.

Now to set it up for optimum performance...

Make sure the following settings are configured. Remember that ON=GREEN.

From main window click Start | Activate in-depth scan.

Then click Use custom scanning options | Customize and have these options switched ON...

Scan within archives
Scan active processes
Scan registryDeep scan registry
Scan my IE Favourites for banned URLs
Scan my host-files

Then click the Settings button.. (the gear icon on the top row) then Tweak | Scanning engine and check..

Unload recognised processes during scanning.
Cleaning engine.
Let windows remove files in use at next reboot.

and uncheck..

Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion.

Then click Proceed, to save your settings.

Now click the Scan button.

When scan is finished, check the little box to the left of each entry to select them for removal, and get rid of them

Restart your computer
