Hi, this forum is great! I am learning as I go. Thanks in advance for any help
Sorry, this is pretty basic stuff for you smarties! Windows XP (home) Verizon DSL w/ Westell wirespeed 2110 dual connect modem, USB My question/dilemma: I have DSL and only one phone line...So, I just bought an external 56k fax modem (USB) to send/receive on my PC. I was told that's what I need? (If I don't want to install a second phone line) I have XP fax installed. I just bought an Epson CX6400 multi-function printer that I need to use for copy/scan to (PC) fax. Epson software says XP fax must be installed for it to work. This new modem comes with it's own fax software (and other stuff I don't want). I'm wondering if it will still work with the Epson printer? ( I've read something about only one fax application can be installed at a time, etc...) Assuming that's all good, can I just plug the phone line into the jack w/ no dsl filter and into the computer and it should work? Thanks! |

Yep, I would say you still need the filter in the phone jack since that's the gadget that seperates incoming/outgoing calls from online activity on the computer.
