basic networking questions for newbie
building new computer for my upstairs bedroom. want to network the new computer build with the one directly downstairs that im on right now. i only plan on networking two computers forever. i don't plan on getting any more computers so i don't need a bunch of ports right now. i don't want to run wires all over the place so would like to go wireless but have heard different stories about wired or not wired connection. it doesn't matter to me if the connection drops every now and then. doesn't have to be perfect. i just want the cheapest wirless networking possible
doesn't have to be fancy or anything, just want my upstairs computer to connect to the cable internet i have downstairs and be able to share files, and printer access. can anyone suggest the parts i will need from newegg.com (wanna order all my stuff from here to save on shipping etc). thanks alot.

that should be simple, as you don't leave any options.
the only way to do this is a wireless router and a wireless NIC for the second computer. the first computer can be wired to the router. this would be the easyest and cheepest way I can think of to do what you need. |
