how fast should my connection be?
i just got a 1mb line and its connected at 567kbps
is this how fast it should be going or have i only got a 512 broadband connection? thanks |

You are looking at a one megabit line, not a one megabyte line hence the difference. There are 1024 bytes in a kilobyte, and so one (1024 kilobytes in a megabyte). There are 8 bits in a byte. There are 1000 kilobits in a megabit.
According to my (bad) calculations you should get 120KBps, but probably am wrong. Try running an online speed test (I use www.adslguide.org.uk , but it is in the UK so there would be a speed difference) which tells you your connection in K, and Kbps (like the one I linked to.) |
