router versus 2 dsl modems

I have 2 computers in an office that work independently. Both computers have access to a dsl line but only one computer has a dsl modem. I was thinking of purchasing a router to connect the 2 computers so that they would both have access to the internet via the dsl line. However, since the computers are independent wouldn't it be easier and perhaps better if I simply purchased a second dsl modem?

Nope - get a router. With 2 modems, only one can be on line at a time and a router is just as cheap as a second modem. The router will also give you the protection of a hardware firewall and the ability to share files and printers if you ever want or need to. It will also allow you to get rid of your ISP's connection software.
