How do I disable the spool manager?
I just got a print server and I'm trying to set it up. As I go along it says I need to disable my epson spool manager. I can't figure out where to disable it. I uninstalled all epson software but it still asks me to disable the spool manager. How do I do this?
I have an Epson C80 printer, linksys PSUS4 PS, Windows 2000 Desktop, and Windows XP home notebook that I need to network. Can't seem to get anything to work right now. There is no Epson folder in the start menu to disable the spool manager. I need help please... Thanks. Last edited by Jeff Lam; 08-13-2004 at 08:26 PM. |

Are you talking about the Print Spooler? If so you can disable it by going to run and typing in "services.msc" without the quotations and right click on Print Spooler and then click on Properties and pull down the startup type and choose Disable. Hope this helps you out.

No, if you disable the print spooler you will not be able to print at all. This is something else - the Epson print manager.
Are you using LPR and not RAW in your protocol? |

Disable Epson Spool Manager
I had a similar problem with a Linksys wireless printserver (WPS54GU2) connected to an Epson C80 printer (running Windows XP on my PC). I was receiving the same message telling me to disable the Epson spool manager. Of course, I couldn't find a way to disable the spool manager, so I contacted Epson's Tech Support. They informed me that the Epson Spool Manager was not included in the C80 drivers for XP and 2000, and that I should just ingore the "Disable Epson Spool Manager" message. I went back and completely uninstalled the Epson drivers and then uninstalled the Linksys Printer Port drivers. Once I did that, I made sure my printer was connected to the print server and rebooted the PC. Once the PC rebooted, I reinstalled the Epson C80 drivers. When the epson utility started searching for the C80 printer, I click the "stop" button. The drivers completed installation. Next, I reinstalled the linksys printer port drivers and ran the printer port setup utility. Again, I got the "disable epson spool manager" message. I ignored it and went on. The final step was to go into the printer's properties and make sure the C80 is connected to the printserver port. Once that was done, everything worked great. Give it a try, and good luck.
