Error 692 with lucent win modem

hi all.

This computer was working previously but now when i try to connect the dial up connection through the lucent win modem it says error 692: there was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device)

It is windows xp. I never hear a dial tone either. under device manager it says "this device is working properly" ... it is also enabled. the modem speaker volume is turned all the way up yet i hear nothing.

Under diagnostics when i query the modem here is the log:

hey all. I fixed it .... by moving the modem to a different pci slot. Perhaps if i removed it then put it back in it would have worked also , im not sure. i guess what this did was reset the modem somehow ? anyways im glad its working. I searched on the internet before posting to try to fix it. ty
