Error 692 with lucent win modem
hi all.
This computer was working previously but now when i try to connect the dial up connection through the lucent win modem it says error 692: there was a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device) It is windows xp. I never hear a dial tone either. under device manager it says "this device is working properly" ... it is also enabled. the modem speaker volume is turned all the way up yet i hear nothing. Under diagnostics when i query the modem here is the log: 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\tapisrv.dll, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\unimdm.tsp, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\unimdmat.dll, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\uniplat.dll, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\modem.sys, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\modemui.dll, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - File: C:\WINDOWS\System32\mdminst.dll, Version 5.1.2600 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - Modem type: Lucent Win Modem 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - Modem inf path: oem31.inf 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - Modem inf section: Modem_PNP_DF 08-20-2004 04:57:56.488 - Matching hardware ID: pci\ven_11c1&dev_044e&subsys_044e1235 08-20-2004 04:57:56.848 - 57600,8,N,1, ctsfl=1, rtsctl=2 08-20-2004 04:57:56.848 - Initializing modem. 08-20-2004 04:57:56.863 - Send: AT 08-20-2004 04:57:56.895 - Recv: AT 08-20-2004 04:57:56.895 - Command Echo 08-20-2004 04:57:56.895 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:57:56.895 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:57:56.910 - Send: AT &F E0 &C1 &D2 V1 S0=0\V1 08-20-2004 04:57:57.317 - Recv: AT &F E0 &C1 &D2 V1 S0=0\V1 08-20-2004 04:57:57.317 - Command Echo 08-20-2004 04:57:57.317 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:57:57.317 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:57:57.332 - Send: ATS7=60S30=0L3M1\N3%C1&K3B0B15B2N1\J1X4 08-20-2004 04:57:57.363 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:57:57.363 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:57:57.363 - Sending user initialization commands. 08-20-2004 04:57:57.379 - Send: AT 08-20-2004 04:57:57.410 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:57:57.410 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:57:57.426 - Send: <18><04> 08-20-2004 04:58:17.426 - Timed out waiting for response from modem 08-20-2004 04:58:17.426 - 57600,8,N,1, ctsfl=1, rtsctl=2 08-20-2004 04:58:17.426 - Initializing modem. 08-20-2004 04:58:17.442 - Send: AT 08-20-2004 04:58:17.801 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:58:17.801 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:58:17.817 - Send: AT &F E0 &C1 &D2 V1 S0=0\V1 08-20-2004 04:58:18.223 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:58:18.223 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:58:18.238 - Send: ATS7=60S30=0L3M1\N3%C1&K3B0B15B2N1\J1X4 08-20-2004 04:58:18.270 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:58:18.270 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:58:18.270 - Sending user initialization commands. 08-20-2004 04:58:18.285 - Send: AT 08-20-2004 04:58:18.317 - Recv: 08-20-2004 04:58:18.317 - Interpreted response: OK 08-20-2004 04:58:18.332 - Send: <18><04> 08-20-2004 04:58:38.332 - Timed out waiting for response from modem 08-20-2004 04:58:38.332 - Session Statistics: 08-20-2004 04:58:38.332 - Reads : 24 bytes 08-20-2004 04:58:38.332 - Writes: 79 bytes ATQ0V1E0 - OK AT+GMM - H.324 video-ready rev. 1.0 AT+FCLASS=? - 0,1 AT#CLS=? - COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED AT+GCI? - +GCI:B5 AT+GCI=? - +GCI 09,0F,31,3C,3D,42,7B,59,7E,82,A0,A5,A6,B4,0A,00,26,61,6C,9C, A9,54,8B,B5,57,50,20,73,53,BC, 89,46,51,AE,9F,8A,2E,69,16,1B, 2D,52,B8,58,98,84,07,14,25,27, 35,85,88,BB,87,B7,8C,49,2B,7F, 68,B3,B2,36,0E,48,62,8E,A1,83, 0D,64,70,77,AD) ATI1 - B3E5 ATI2 - OK ATI3 - LT V.92 Data+Fax Modem Version 8.28 ATI4 - 71 ATI5 - 8.28,0,19,11C1,044E,1235,044E ATI6 - OK ATI7 - OK |

hey all. I fixed it .... by moving the modem to a different pci slot. Perhaps if i removed it then put it back in it would have worked also , im not sure. i guess what this did was reset the modem somehow ? anyways im glad its working. I searched on the internet before posting to try to fix it. ty
