reinstalled windows98se but drivers won't respond...
i had just finished reinstalling windows98se because of a F'in adware called SideFind what it does is when you try to uninstall it through the Add/Remove it trashes your whole hard drive in punishment....now..i have to reinstall windows...i already did twice.
But it seems it can't read the software for my nic card OR my display driver..i have the right software for them it just doesn't want to read it. I have a CNETPro200 nic card and an ATi video card and i have installation discs for both but it doesn't want to read them...please help...>_< |

did you format the hard drive before you reinstalled w98se ?
some files may remain that could cause the problem. |

Download the software on another computer and burn it onto a CD. Your media may be damaged.

well...i uninstalled and formatted my c:/ drive again with s and installed windows XP proffesional edition and before i did any other viewing to other websites i downloaded all the patches i could. And i needed a few drivers for my sound and graphics card.. i found them at driverguide.com but the only thing is it sent me to a search engine link and i was bombarded with adware. Luckily i have Ad-Aware installed on my comp and i tried my best to get rid of it. Also got spybot and tried to install norton kinda failed...
but are there any suggestions on how to keep a tight fit on how to control whats being downloaded and must have permission by the admin? |
