Poor Signal
Hi all,
About a week ago I postedhere . I purchased a Netgear 'b' router. After a number of configuration problems (my fault...I'm used to setting up peer-to-peer networks), I got the router working and my network was online. Here's my problem. When I am connected th the internet (cable connection) I notice a significant difference in the speed of the internet between the computer connected directly and the computers connected via the router, wirelessly. Doing some speed tests, I regularly get 1.5-2.5 mbps on the wired machine and only 300 kps or less on the wireless machines. When I was experimenting with a peer-to-peer connection (no router), using the same machines, the wireless machines were nearly as fast as the wired machine. All hardware is 'b'. Is this normal? Anything I can do to remedy this? Thanks in advance |

Make sure you have the latest firmware for your router.

You da man, GLC. Downloaded upgraded firmware. Installed. Problem solved. In fact, the wired connections are faster, too.
Thanks much.
