IE not working
I recently switched from bellsouth dsl to earthlink dsl. Funny thing is that it didn't work for the first couple of days, then all of a sudden it started working. Now it's working. The power, ethernet and dsl sync light are all solid, but the PPoE light has not turned solid. And when i try to access IE6, the home page won't display. The only way that I can access the net is through my AOL account and then i have to enter yahoo, and work from there. Is this some sort of virus. I have spybot, and adaware, and recently pc mechanics. but none of this is working. I also tried to create another user account but that didn't work. Somebody please help.

The PPPoE light will not turn solid until you are synced *and* logged on. Earthlink ships what's called a "UHP" modem, which is a simple one client router. You need to set your TCP/IP properties to obtain IP and DNS automatically, then surf into the UHP modem's IP address (172.16.0.254? - it will be in the booklet that came with your kit), and enter your username and password. When it authenticates, you will get a status page and a solid PPPoE light. Before you do all this, you probably should uninstall all the Bellsouth software, especially their connection manager and PPPoE client. Remove anything that references PPPoE in your local area connection properties.
