I heard somewhere that routers (Linksys 4 port)have built
in security and that software like Zone Alarm is redundant.
Can't find any mention of this in the router documentation,
apparently it does not have to be activated.
I am trying to clean out years of accumulated freeware.

Yup. A router has it's own IP, and protects any IP behind it. Get rid of ZA, and let the script kiddies bang away at the router all day...hahaha.

The only function ZA would have behind a router would be to block outgoing stuff, like spyware phoning home.
