I have a problem, Win Xp Home won't let me share Program Files, Windows or Documents and Settings. I need to share these folders on my network but Win XP Home is really pushy and won't allow me to.

Do you have File and Print Sharing enabled?
Do you have those Drives/Directories shared? Welcome to PCMECH! |

I can share other folders and I am sharing a printer over the network. Its a thing in Win Xp Home, its supposed to be 'user friendly'. I was hoping there would be something I could do in the registry.
Thanks for the welcome |

XP Home only uses simple file sharing, which canot be disabled like it can with XP Pro. Simple file sharing will not allow sharing of those system folders. You can *try* to share the whole drive - that may work. You would need to create a new share - the whole drive is already administratively shared, which is not a user accessible share. Note that doing this is a security risk.
The better option is upgrade to XP Pro and disable simple file sharing. |
