I have a Laptop on WIN2000 and a on PC - WIN 98
I connect the special network adapter from the Laptop the Pc's Network adapter but usualy when two computer are connected the green light on my pc adapter lights up. so I try it anyway (same workgroup) but I can't see any other computer. There is a little icon in the system trey of the Laptap that says the network adapter cable is disconnected, but it's not. As far as protocols and clintes: the Pc has everything beacsue it worked with another pc on a network before. but the Laptop only has the TCP/IP, Sharing files and Clinet for microsoft networks - do you need something else? What can I do? Thanks ReBeL |

Are you sure that you are using a crossed cable to connect the machines. It is a physical problem if the light does not flash.

that's usually a straight cable. This cable is built to connect to a hub or switch. To connect 1 PC to another without a hub or switch you need a crossed cable (also called nullmodem)
Read here how you can build your own crossed cable http://www.networkinghelp.org/articl...crossover.php3 |
