Unhappy Wireless network cant file share

Hello All,

I need your assistance. I have a wireless laptop which connects to my wireless Netgear wg614v3 router to share an internet connection. The internet works but i cant seem to share files with my pc. I have a folder selected on the pc with file sharing turned on. I have tcp/ip6 and netbeu (netbeu seem to do the trick last time) protocols installed. I have zone alarm set with the laptop ip address as trusted and trusted zones set to medium.
I have had it working before but i didnt use my laptop so i made some changes on the pc a while back and cant get it back. I turned on workstation and browser services.....what am i missing......Please help.

thanks

y are u using those protocols ?
not sure what u did..
if u wanna share files and printers, etc.. ure gonna have to close ZA.
dont think u need those protocols etc...

not sure y u dont have a connection, sounds weird... make sure u have the latest version of your wireless card installed, see if that works.

good luck,

NetBEUI will get around ZA, that's why you may need it. However, we've seen problems with NetBEUI over wireless.

If you can connect to the router but not to the Internet, open a command prompt and type:

ipconfig/flushdns

You may also have to repair the Winsock - Google for winsockxpfix.

Smile Thanks

Thanks everyone for your help. Presently things are working. The DNS settings where incorrect. When I first set up the network I had Netgear walk me through some settings - somehow those settings changed, so i set everything to obtain auto and it now works. I did have to uninstall and reinstall sp2. I can not allow windows to manage my connection i have to use the dell utility.

I do have one last question, I have allow NetBOIS over tcp/ip selected however when i do ipconfig/all it states that NetBOIS over tcp/ip is disabled any clues why?

Is it fully enabled, or is it set to get NetBIOS from the DHCP server?

There are 3 choices on the wins tab - which choice is enabled? Disabled, enabled, or get from DHCP?
