Surfboard 4200 - Connect through ethernet?

I have a Surfboard 4200 USB cable modem. I always connect through USB, but to use my PS2 online, I have to connect my PC through a crossover cable, and then use my other network card to connect to my PS2. My question is, is there anyway that you can hook a Surfboard modem up through a crossover cable? When I plug it in, the computer recognises it, and the lights on my network card are green/orange, and the lights show up on the modem, but still no connection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you have an Ethernet port on that modem, you use a straight patch cable, not a crossover, to connect it to either a NIC or a router.
