15 sec lag every 15 min

When i play DIABLO II i get a lag from when i open the game to the next 15 minutes, it lags for 15seconds then re counts the 15 minutes :/ it also lags every time i press enter or click SEND after typing my message for about 5 seconds, also when i play YAHOO PYRAMIDS every 15 minutes or so it lags for about 15 seconds (prolly same thing as diablo) hmmm anyone know a sulution?

its really a lag of where the window its running in stops responding for that many seconds but everything else is responding

WINDOWS 98
not sure connection ( was DSL, got downgraded but still use same modem about 12k download speed )
Problem started they day the connection was downgraded

BTW my friend has this same problem with diablo 2 and msn, Except he still has the same connection DSL from the same ISP and he is on Widnows XP and he is connected to a router. None of the other computers have this stop lag

without knowing who your ISP is, I can only guess:

You may have an ISP who uses megaproxying (cause: more users than available IP addresses). Every 15 minutes or so, your IP address for the rest of the world changes and the system needs to reset and catch up with that fact to keep you connected, this can cause a slight hiccup in your connection. Normally you don't see any impact unless you are doing something that 1) requires a constant connection (games are one, as is on line shopping) or 2) has a constant stream of data (games are the biggie here).

hmm well thats bad, ill prolly have to swith isp

but when i open 2 diablos 2 windows, one would be not responding and the other would be working fine
