Emachine Laptop modem problems
My friend has a new Emachine Laptop that has 512MB, AMD64 Mobile +3000. The modem is a Smartlink 56k. For some reason, it will not connect on his phone line or mine. It connected once at 9.6k!!! Its under warrenty so he is going to see if he can either get it fixed or replaced at Best Buy where he bought it. Does anyone have any idea if this is a bad modem or is there is something that i'm missing in diagnosis? Thanks.

What's up with the hyperlinks in your post? Anyway, is the modem a pcmcia card or is it onboard?

I have no idea about the hyperlinks but the modem is internal.

Uninstall and reinstall the driver - if it's still messed up take it back to Best Buy.
