Boom What is the Difference between Private IP and Public IP

what is the difference between Private IP and Public IP

if i want to create a FtP/File Server do i use the Prviate IP or Public IP what else do i need

You can't go to private IP's on the internet, you need a public one.

You connect to your (public) IP address and have your router forward the ports (port 21) to the FTP server, which has a private IP. Considering you have a router, that is.

in other words, your private IP is the one behind your router(im assuming your behind a router), and the public one is the one everyone can see. you must open up a port for your router, and see this great site to see how to do so: www.portforward.com

if i am behind a router, how would i use my external IP address to set up FTP since i use non-static ip internet connection. can anyone help me

I don't think you can set up a FTP client on a computer with a dynamic IP address. (but don't quote me on that)

Are you in a network getting your IP from a DHCP server? If so you would need to talk to your network administrator about all this. They will be aboe to give you the info you need.
