Wireless card install, missing inemib1.dll etc. files
Install is calling for files that it can't locate, for example inemibi.dll,
'networks' and 'protocol' . I can't find that file on the W98SE CD or on the hard drive using 'find files'. The PC is a 5 year old COMPAQ just restored with their restore discs. The W98 CD is not the same ser# as on the HDD. Card is new Belken 802.11b which says its W98 compatible. I've tried using the Windows hardware installer but its the same. Appreciate any ideas. Thanks, Chris. |

It's probably looking for the files in the cab files. Point it to c:\windows\options\cabs, if it can't find them there, put any Win98SE CD in the CD drive (this assumes that the restore CD put 98SE on the hard drive) and point it to x:\win98 (where x is the CD drive letter). If the restore put 98FE on, I don't believe that the card is compatible.

I installed a couple of unrelated programs while I was waiting for a reply, and
when I went back it was working. I don't get it. As usual, it must have been the numerous reboots that did it. thanks glc |
