I've tried alot to connect two computers, each computer has its LAN card installed, I have a UTP wire, four pairs, four wires only are used.
But I've failed, then I've braught a hub and used another UTP wire in which all the four pairs are used, it worked. I don't have a hub, and want to connect the two computers without a hub, they say it could be done. Does any one know how to do that? The two computers are: PIV 2.8GHz, Windows XP Professional with service pack 2 One has a LAN built in motherboard "RealTeck" The other has a LAN card "SuperCom" |

Hi,
you need to get a crossover cable to connect two PCs together. What you have is a twisted pair, and it is meant to connect the PC to a hub. Only if one of the PCs had a gigabit ethernet controller, it wouldn't matter. RJ

Thank you very much
I googled for 'crossover cable', then I found that I had connected the wires of the cable wrongly. Because I connected the pins 1->1, 2->2, 3->3, and 6->6 while it should be connected 1->3, 2->6, 3->1, and 6->2 I used the crossover cable but with a mistake. I worked for several days trying to connect using this cable. |

Nope, that's all you need. Connect them and run the XP networking wizard.
