98se and linksys wmp54g w/wrt54g

Couldn't for the life of me get this connection working on a dual-boot xp/98se machine. XP would connect fine, 98se wouldn't. The Linksys utility that installs with 98 was telling me the nic was "not active" After talking with glc and trying some of his suggestions, I realized I had skipped perhaps the most important step when dealing with any networking hardware. Unplug and "power cycle" the router. After this, my network card was at least reported as active, but still would not connect. Turns out there's a "bluetooth" connectivity option in the NIC properties, that I don't ever remember seeing in xp (could be wrong, just don't remember it being there and have yet to check.) Anyhow, upon disabling the bluetooth and rebooting, coupled with the power-cycle of the router I am now up and going. Thanks again glc. Hopefully someone else running into this problem can save themselves some time by remembering the basic rule: If it doesn't work, try unplugging it for 30sec or so
