A receiving wireless acces point?
hey guys,
i just got a VOIP modem, and its upstairs, i want to get the phone thats connected to it downstairs, but the ethernet cable from comp to VOIP modem is upstairs, im not gonna get a 50ft cable, i really do prefer something like a receiving access point, so, itll be downstairs, and receive my wireless 802.11b/g transmittions from my Netgear WGR614v4 (802.11g) wireless router. i also (of course) want it to have at least 1 ethernet port that, when i plug an ethernet cable on one side of that thing, and then the other side to the VOIP modem, i'll be able to use VOIP via the VOIP modem downstairs. is all this possible ? plz gimme some links linking to products like these (on newegg, manufacturers site, etc..) 10x alot, KoMoDo |

Connect it to a hub or switch if you want more than one Ethernet device to use it. |

i just need 1 device (the VOIP modem) to recognize it, u say i just plug it in to the device and itll work ? just like it is now (connected to the router via ethernet) ?
woah thats extremely expensive.. i just need a 11mbps version since my router supports 802.11b and my connection is 1.5mbit so VOIP doesnt need more.. so im basically looking for an "Ethernet Bridge" ? anything should do ? can u plz help me find some more ? 10x alot, KoMoDo |

Yes, that should work.
Administrative note - please use the Edit function instead of posting back to back new replies. You are doing this in quite a few threads. |

ok cool ill talk to my dad about it, can u guys find any cheaper ones that arent a low quality brand ? (like microsoft, etc)
and sry admin, i know its no excuse and i wont do it again, its just that i always use the quick reply option, and when i do the edit option it takes a few more seconds because of my kinda crappy connection, plus im in israel so its a long distance to travel :-P i wont do it again though, i guess ;-) 10x, KoMoDo |

You will have a lot less hassles if you match up brands on your wireless equipment - and that's already pretty cheap for a bridge.
