wireless network problem: share internet, cant share files
hey everyone,
im having a problem with my wireless network. each computer (3 total) is able to use the internet, but we're having trouble viewing each others files. i used the windows "set up home office/network" to set up the network. am i doing something wrong? i set all teh computers to the group "home", but they cant see any files. is there any other software i can use to create the network? could the problem be that my computer is using XP sp2? and the others are sp1? thanks. oh yeah: using a netgear wirless g router and card, |

Make sure everyone has the Windows XP firewall disabled, SP2 for example enables this even if it was disabled before. Also, try looking for each computer by typing "\\name-of-pc" in the addres bar of Windows Explorer (not IE) and pressing ENTER, it should immediately show the shared folders of that computer. You can find the name of the PC in Control Panel/System, click on the "Computer Name" tab.

make sure that shareing is enabled and that you have something shared, like a folder or two.

yeah, all computers have a folder shared, along with the shared documents.
**UPDATE** I fixed the problem, i set up the network wizard again saying the computers didnt connect to the internet to fix the problem. i guess something with the internet and network was interfering. so now i have microsoft for network, and netgear software for internet Last edited by rhdb52; 10-10-2004 at 10:32 PM. |
