wpabaln.exe and viewmgr.exe

do you have wpabaln.exe running? i cant figure out if its a legit file or spyware. i did some googles, some ppl said it was a windows file, some said to delete it cause it was spyware.

also, do you have viewmgr.exe running? that is confirmed spyware, yet i cant figure out where its coming from!?!? and also, so many ppl have viewmgr.exe too...

i wanted to know if it was safe to delete wpabaln.exe

thx

Installed by Viewpoint - which was installed by AIM. Spyware.

Uninstall Viewpoint Media Player from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel.

If you have AOL, it will just keep reinstalling as it is a required component.

It should be gone then. You might want to do a Ad-aware or spybot or both scan after you have uninstalled it.

Adaware is more user friendly so if you want to use that go ahead, but every now and then I would also scan with Spy-bot because both these programs sometimes don't detect stuff that the other one will. Also don't forget to update before every scan. I would not get anything besides Ad-aware and Spy-bot for removal because lots of the spyware cleaners out there are spyware themselves, so you have to be careful. Now if you have a certain problem like a certain spyware that won't leave, you might need to install a special tool like CWS shredder, Hijack this etc., those are ok. If you have spyware that just won't leave then let us know and we will try to help you.

1. Ad-Aware 1.05 SE
2. Spybot Search & Destroy 1.3

Install and update both, use them.

If you still have problems, read the sticky thread about HijackThis logs, get it, run it, post a log.

Just boot in safe mode and Delete the .exe and the entire folder. Thats what i did because i couldn't uninstall it from the Add/Remove Programs. That did the trick. It cant run if its not there
