Problem with cable modem
I have this really annoying problem with my cable modem. It's an RCA and I got it from Comcast. The problem is, if I touch the modem or move it in any way... it'll disconnect itself. No cables are loose or anything. Then it'll try to reconnect (the lights start flashing) but it fails to do so unless I wiggle the cable (the one coming from the wall to the modem) around until it connects again.
Is this a problem with the modem? Will buying a new modem remedy this problem? |

there are 2 possible issues:
1) bad/corroded connector on the coax cable. I would test this one first by replacing it. 2) you could have a bad connector on the modem itself, that is a job for the cable company to fix. |

That's common on those RCA's - it's the power cord connector on the back of the modem. Call Comcast and get a replacement modem (and ask nicely if you can get a Motorola this time).
