Unsolicited connection to my PC??
I opened up my McAfee Firewall settings because I was bored. This little statement was at the bottom of the window:
A computer at IP address XX.X.XXX.XX has attempted an unsolicited connection to TCP port XXXX on your computer. -Trace this event -Trust this IP address Of course I didn't click 'Trust". In fact I went in and banned the IP. I am concerned if someone is trying to hack into my computer or something though. I clicked 'trace' and it showed me a world map with several stops, from Northern Europe to New York, to my Mytown, USA. Should I be concerned about this?? |

Nahh, don't worry about it. It's probably nothing. People set up port scanners to sweep an entire IP range for open ports. At least your firewall caught it, so it's doing it's job.

Not a problem
Sygate presonal firewall does the same thing. It reports that a port scan was done on port ............ by IP address .................... Makes it seem that they succeeded and the firewall is admitting it failed. On the otherhand, I figure it is reporting the event that it blocked. God bless the firewalls. |
