router troubles

Heres my problem. My internet connection restarts every now and then (maybe around every 15 minutes) and it takes like 1 minute for the router to reconnect.

Heres what I know, my connection worked perfectly with my previous wired router, but when i got this new wireless router last week and got it going, it doesnt work. It seems like the router isnt the problem tho because its the DSL modem that keeps restarting every 15 minutes, the router seems to be running fine, but the problem started when i switched the routers, so i have no idea what the problem really is.

The modem is a DSL speedstream 5360 ADSL modem
The old router is a Linksys Etherfast 4-port cable/dsl router with 4 port switch, model number: BEFSR41 ver. 2
The New wireles router is a D-Link 802.11g/2.4ghzWireless router, model number: DL-524
The service is SBC DSL
There are 3 computers running Wired to the router, all running windows XP
And with the new wireless router ive had one laptop with a wireles cardbus connecting to it, it is running windows XP also.

The computers are not networked together.

Are you saying you can see the lights on the modem and it is restarting that often, or could it be in the router WAN setup page you may need to check keepalive like you had on the linksys router.

Ill be using the internet, or playing a game online, when ill get disconected, and a message pops up telling me my lan cable has been unplugged or something.

I look at the modem (not router) and the lights are blinking like it disconected and is reconecting.

and i have no idea about the router wan setup page, think thats the problem?

If your getting that little baloon down in the systray about your network connection then the trouble somewhere from your PC and the port it is connected to on the router. You'll have to be more specific on the lights blinking on the modem. Which light blinks? The activity light is supposed to blink and the router is the thing that connects and keeps the connection going, so from what your saying it just sounds like a problem with your PC's nic or the cable itself, or perhaps the router is rebooting which would cause everything to go down everytime it reboots. The wan setup page is where you had to go to get and put in the correct settings to get the router to connect correctly to your DSL service thru the DSL modem..

the 'enet' light on the modem will go blank and then start blinking, its obvious that the modem somehow disconected and then the modem is reconecting, the router lights stay the same, except for obviously when the modem restarts the router loses its connection too.

so how does that make the problem the PC nic or the cable? when i change back to the old router the problem is nonexistent, but with the wireless router it does this, but it seems like the modem is what is reconecting, so to my unexperienced eye it seems that the problem is either with the modem or wireless router or both.

Well this is what I was digging for, a little more info cause your the hands and the eyes onsite. The only reason I said PC problem cause you said your getting that little baloon on your PC that says network cable unplugged. I does sound like you should check the setup page for the wan connection in that router, like I said, in he linksys it is called keepalive but I don't know what netgear calls it but it should be obvious what to check to keep the connection active unless you go in and tell it to disconnect.. The problem is though that if that were the case you still shouldn't get a network cable unplugged warning on your PC..
Maybe there are 2 problems..

If the ENET light is blinking on the modem, it's the router that's disconnecting. The issue is in the router. Check for keepalive as already mentioned.
