how to fix my router settings

ive been having trouble with my dlink dl524 wireless router. it disconects and reconects every now and then annoyingly. i was told i probably have 'keepalive' or osmehting like that, turned off, and i need to turn it on. well thats good and well but how do i do that? i lost the cd for my router, and i went to the dlink website and i see nothing to download except the firmware which it gives to you in a .bin extension which my computer cant even open.

So what am i supposed to do?

You do not need the CD - you need to log into the router using a web browser. Browse to 192.168.0.1, and if you haven't changed the defaults, username is "admin" and there is no password. You can download the router manual from D-Link.
