router safety
is it safe for the router to suddenly turn off like in a black out, if it is not safe then what is a safe way to protect it

About all you can do really is have it on a surge bar so when the power comes back on it won't get spiked.

I run my cable modem and router off a UPS and it never will go off even with a power outage.
