No IP address on new cable internet install
I have been trying to do this self install kit from Comcast, I cannot get it to find a IP address, it says, 0.00.00.00 etc for IP address.
Is there something I need to enable in bios? Can I still have my 56K dialup still in the system? I had the comcast support on the telephone and we did a bunch of ipconfig/renew, no luck. What am I doing wrong here? Right now if I place cursor over one set of the 2 monitors I get information on my dial up connection, if I move cursor over to other icon with 2 monitors It says "local area connection 100.0Mbps. this is the computer listed below, it has 2 areas where you can plug the cable (looks like big phone cord) into, one up high and the other lower than that one. Which one am I supposed to use, neither work. Please don't hesitate to get real basic here, I know nothing about this!

It is something wrong with my computer, I got it to work on my laptop, it found the ip adress no problem and the account setup went good. So I have to figure out what is wrong with my main computer.

Open your network connections, find the local area connection that's enabled and connected, right click on it, and select Repair. Do this with your dialup connection NOT connected. If this doesn't work, Google for "winsockxpfix", download it, and run it. If that doesn't work, uninstall and reinstall your network adapter drivers.
