Hello everyone,
I am having problems sharing files with my Netgear WGR614v4 Router and Netgear WG121 Wirless Adapter. My first computer is a Dell Dimension 2400 (which is dirrectly connected to the WGR614v4 router with a CAT5) My second computer is also a Dell Dimension 2400 (which is using the USB Wg121 Wireless adapter) The internet sharing part is ok. I have a cable modem attached to the router and is working perfectly with both comps having internet. I just need to find out a way to share files between the computers now. Both PCs are running Windows XP Home Edition SP1. If you need any other information, tell me. Thanks in advance. |

Each computer needs a separate name and both need to be in the same Work Group. Have you run the Networking Wizard on each machine? If you are running a firewall, and you already have the Network properly configured, try turning off the firewall(s).

How do i check if it works? I tried viewing workgroup computers but i get this message: "My Network Places Mshome is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact administrator for this server to find out if you have access permission. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available." I get this on both computers. HELP! |

You have to select the files/hard dirve/folder you want to share and set it to "Share on the Network". Just select something like My Documents by Right Clicking on it and select sharing. It'll be obvious from there. Then look for that folder with the other computer by going to My Network Places. You'll need to set which folders/files to share on each computer.

In your advanced TCP/IP properties, is NetBIOS enabled? Does your router have the latest firmware? Is 802.1x authentication turned off?
