Wireless Router help.

I've used the search function, and found some recommendations on the LinkSys WRT54G Wireless Router. That seems fine with me, but I do have a couple of questions still.

We have this PC downstairs, with a cable modem. My ISP uses a HTTP Proxy (which might be a problem?). What I'd like to do is use a wireless router to connect my newly built computer upstairs to the internet. I have no experience whatsoever with routers, let alone wireless ones. Therefore I have a couple of questions

1) My motherboard, A8V DX is some kind of "Wireless Edition" thingy. It came with a weird black rubber receiver and an extra PCI card I never used. Does this have anything to do with what I'm trying to do?

2) Will I be able to make full use of the bandwith provided by my ISP via this router ?

3) Are there any sites that give a good overview on how to connect the PC upstairs to the internet via a wireless router, or is anybody willing to explain it to me via the forum ? I checked google, and the forum search button, but I didnt find anything viable.

Thanks in advance

1. I tried looking up your mobo, but I couldn't see exactly what type of card it is. Have a pic or link to it? It's probably your Wifi card, and yes that will be what you need.

2. Yes, even the "slower" 802.11b provides 11Mb bandwidth. I'm sure that's much faster than your internet connection. Get an 802.11g model if you plan on moving lots of large files over a LAN, it's 54Mbps

3. These should help:

Remember that those numbers are for within the network only, obvisously; it won't speed up your connection to the ISP.
