Broadband To Laptop & Desktop
May i start off by saying Merry Xmas to everyone here.
Also, i know this has proberly been mentioned on the forums before somewhere so i appologise if im duplicating threads. Anyways, my brother has just recieved a laptop for christmas and he would like to access the internet on it. I have a broadband connection which im currently using on my desktop pc and would like to share the connection between the two. I know very little about networks and routers and things so i would appreciate it if you could give me some advice on how to achieve this. If you could also give me some decent brands and products to buy that would be great. I would also like to know if sharing the connection with the laptop would slow it down. Thankyou in advance for your help, Ian |

Just get yourself a router. Wired or wireless will be determined by whether your brother's laptop has wireless already. If not, he'll need a wireless PCMCIA card to run wireless. Sharing won't affect your broadband speed.

I recommend PCMCIA over USB, it's easier on system resources.
