Netgear Wireless Network --> Slow Internet?
Hi I am somewhat new to networking, and I need help.
I recently bought a Netgear Wireless Router, WGR614 v5, and a Negear PCI Adapter, WG311 v2. I hooked my internet up to my router and hooked up my computer to the router. Then, I installed my PCI card on my other computer and while installing I kept receiving the blue screen of death I read other reviews finding out the Utility for the PCI Adapter is not compatible with Windows SP2. After installing the PCI Adapter and Driver, I noticed a slower internet connection after running a speed test from www.dslreports.com/stest like 1000/350. 1000 kb/s download and 350 kb/s upload. Well, I ran a stress test the other day and it was lower 800/350. Then today I ran it again and I had a extremely slow download 264/ 345. 264 kb/s = 33 KB/s. Each time I ran these tests, I didn't have any programs running that would interfere with my connection. All of the Speed tests where run on the computer with the PCI Adapter. I don't have anything in my house that would cause inteference either. The Windows Wireless program says its connected at 48 Mbps and rarely, if ever, falls below that I have an Thomson Cable Modem. I have an ASUS motherboard A8V Deluxe http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...131-510&depa=0 if that would have anything to do with it. Has anyone else experienced slow internet problems with the Netgear Products, or does anyone have any advice on what to do? Thanks Jonathan Last edited by jonathan_bros; 12-29-2004 at 05:46 PM. |
