Wierd modem problem.

My modem has been weird for a while but this is downright strange. My modem would occasionally drop the signal for no reason, forcing me to run through the setup on my router several times while jiggling the ethernet cable on the back (if it setted, it didn't work) and then let it take another 5 minutes to get used to this new setup. It started out occasionally, but now happens once a day almost. Then, the modem managed to fry the cable from the splitter to the back of it. (2nd one). I replaced it, and my connection worked fine. I put the modem down, my connection went out. I picked it up, connection came back. Now I have to old the modem to get it to work. It has to be held with the cable cables fully extended or else the signal drops. Any ideas why it's doing this? (Cricket don't say gremlins). It's a Terayon modem, and my isp is Comcast.

If it's a rental Comcast modem, call them and get them to come out and replace it. If you own the modem and it's on warranty, get it fixed/replaced. If you own it and it's off warranty, go buy a new modem or rent one from Comcast.
