Home Search Assistant
I had a friend of mine send me an email about a nasty browser hijacker that he couldn't seem to get rid of. Stopped by his house and found Home Search Assistant on his computer. Here's the nasty thing about this hijacker, Spybot and Ad-Aware can't fix it, nor does running CWShredder help. I also downloaded AboutBuster, but that didn't work either. I found a website that had step by step instructions on the removal of Home Search, but unfortunately, he doesn't have a printer so I couldn't print them out.
Once I got home, I was able to print out the instructions. You can see the instructions by going here . One other thing with this Home Search Assistant is that his AVG was finding a trojan horse every few minutes. It is a recurring thing, I tried to heal, I tried deleting and I even tried moving the file to the virus vault, but it kept coming back. I hadn't read any posts here yet about Home Search Assistant, but I figured it was only a matter of time. Scomac |
