PC wont fully connect to xbox.

Hi guys, i need a little help here. Im new to this and Im trying to get my computer to connect to my xbox via a switch. The xbox is modded and has its own IP adress (so im told) When I want to play xbox live I always have to reset my cable modem for it to work. Im using windows xp, and have the pc, the modem, and xbox all connected to a netgear 4 port switch, WHen I try to connect to my xbox using flash fxp, i get the message saying its connected, but then an error saying it lost the connection due to inactivity. Is there something I can do to get this to work?

P.S. I have comcast.

You need a router, not a switch. You only have one IP address from Comcast and the modem must be reset every time you want to enable one device or the other.

Are you paying Comcast extra for 2 IP addresses? It doesn't matter how the Xbox is modded, it's the ISP who controls how many IP addresses you have.
