wireless router question

If I have a wireless router but I don't have anything connected to it wirelessly, if wirelessly is a word, does it still broadcast or transmit a signal wirelessly?
I'm curious because I'm looking at DSL and verizon is offering a modem/router combo with the deal. Well, I only have one pc that I want on the net right now. So if I only have one pc hooked up to it, does it still transmit a signal?
Or if I have 2 pc's hooked up to a wireless router but they are connected via a network cable. Does it still broadcast wirelessly?
Just curious.

The router has the option to disable/enable the wireless, so go into the configuration of the router and be sure it is disabled and you won't have to worry about it broadcasting.
