Wireless Computer - No Printer
Problem: A wireless connection cannot see printers/files that other computers can see/use.
I have three computers networked through a Linksys Wireless G Broadband Router: Computer 1 : Hard wired, XP Home SP2, has local printer, shared throughout network Computer 2 : Wireless, XP Home SP2 Computer 3 : N/A to the problem I used to be able to just share the local printer on Computer 1 and you could see and print to it throughout the network. Now...not so much. The wireless cannot find the printer as before. All hard wired computers can print. As far as files go, the wireless can set sharing to folders, but can not see its own files under Network Places. Computer 1 cannot see files "Shared" by the wireless, under its Network Places, but can only see its and the other hard wired computer's shared files. TRIED: 1. Disabled Z Alarm : Didn't help 2. Pinged the wireless from a hardwired : Request timed out 3. Even turned off Norton on Computer 1 : Didn't help 4. Checked workgroup : Same name 5. Add printer wizard on wireless cannot find the local printer on Computer 1 6. net view in cmd prompt showed all three computers connected. 7. Clicked the wireless computer in workgroup on Computer 1 : Didn't have permission 8. I 1)Turned off the Wireless' Windows Firewall and 2)allowed respective exceptions to past through #2 is interesting and think that it maybe might have to do with something deeper, maybe router deep, but I don't know. Also, nothing to do with the problem, but when I click on the Windows Firewall on Computer 1 it says that ICS/(something) service(s), I think, is not enabled. How do I enable it. ^fo |
