Wireless modems

Hey was wondering, for wireless modems usually there is a wire to connect it to the access point or no wires? i would think no wires because its wireless, so in that case how do you get up a wireless cable modem say on windows xp with 1 desktop computer........... please if possible give me step by step, do you need wireless adapter in the desktop??

wireless routers refer to how the router can connect to a client. Unless you have a specific wireless ISP (like the Nextel solution or the like), there will be a wire into your home, connecting to the modem which then connects via wire to the wireless router which then can connect wirelessly to wireless enabled clients.

Does this answer your question?

yes you will need to install and set up a wireless NIC in the desktop computer, then it will connect to the router without any cable.

the router will have a cable to connect to the modem, and the modem will have a cable to connect to your isp.
