Connection Issues
Hi,
To be honest, I don't know what I did. But my WMP11 card seems to have attracted a entirely new IP address (169.168.22.88) instead of the usual (192.168...). This happened sometime ago on my mothers system and GLC sent me a program that set my IP back to its usual mode. If possible, can someone send me this program to my email? My email is : James979i@yahoo.com. Many regards, James |

That ip address is something you get assigned by windows when you not correctly connected. Unplug the router for 1 minute and plug it back in and try it back if not goto start menu goto run , cmd , and put ipconfig , if u get the same ip address try ipconfig /release, then ipconfig /renew, see what that gets you...

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I am running Windows 2k. The ipconfig showed the same numbers that I am getting on the software. The other two commands both gave errors, one stating that since it was a DCHP, it could not release the IP's, and the other one gave a error saying it occurred working on a socket thats not really a socket.

Thanks George. What a timely reply. I came down this morning and AVG was reporting a virus on my PC. After instructing it to heal and getting a msg to reboot, my PC would not connect to internet after boot.
Tried releasing and renewing IP, changing from the onboard Nvida to 3Com NIC, and power cycling the router and modem. Nothing worked. Wifes PC was fine so I got on and went to post in this forum and saw this thread. Downloaded to wifes PC, copied over to mine and ran Winsock fix. Took care of problem. Thanks again Chas
